Chiropractor Sharpsburg GA - A Healthy Lifestyle To Prevent Cancer

Preventing CancerIn this weeks video health tip, Dr. Samir Hajariwala, director of Crossroads Chiropractic, takes a look at healthy lifestyle recommendations to prevent cancer.

According to the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, approximately 70% of adults 20 years or older are overweight or obese.

Being overweight has been shown to increase your cancer risk as well as your risk for many other health problems.

The American Cancer Society has recently published lifestyle guidelines for preventing cancer recommending:

Exercise regularly: Adults should engage weekly in 20 to 40 minutes a day of moderate-intensity physical activity, 10 to 20 minutes day of vigorous-intensity physical activity, or an equivalent combination; exceeding the upper limit of 40 minutes a day is optimal.

A review of 18 articles on exercise predicting cancer survival, found 10 articles documenting sedentary behavior contributing to an increased recurrence rate in cancer survivors.

Eat a healthy diet: Eat a variety of vegetables including dark green, red, and orange, fiber-rich legumes (beans and peas), and others; fruits, especially whole fruits; and whole grains.

Restrict or avoid red meat and processed meats, sugar-sweetened beverages, highly processed foods, and refined grain products.

Limit Alcohol: It is best not to drink alcohol.

Seeing your chiropractor regularly keeps the spine healthy, which then allows the nervous system and immune system to work optimally.

According to the Cancer Treatment Centers of America, chiropractic care as a complimentary health service during cancer treatments can also help with some of the side affects such as nausea, headaches, fatigue and back & neck pain.

You can reduce your risk for many cancers by maintaining a healthy weight, daily exercise, and eating lots of vegetables, fruits, and other anti-inflammatory foods, and regular chiropractic care.

Remember you and your family can be as healthy as can be, and it’s never too soon to start receiving chiropractic care. Your best source for everything health is your chiropractor.  It’s never too early or late to see the team at Crossroads Chiropractic. Visit Sharpsburg Chiropractor, Crossroads Chiropractic regularly and make sure your nervous system is functioning 100%.
