That is just one apple a day, and an 11% lower risk for each equivalent amount of vegetables.

Some particularly potent stroke preventers include citrus fruits, apples and pears, dark green leafy vegetables, and green tea.

Drinking 3 cups of green tea a day is associated with an 18% lower stroke risk.
