MyACT Shockwave Therapy in Sharpsburg, GA

Myofascial Acoustic Compression Therapy MyACT (Shockwave Therapy)

MyACT Shockwave Therapy in Sharpsburg, GA

MyACT uses targeted acoustic pressure waves in soft tissue. At Crossroads Chiropractic, it may be included in a conservative care plan for selected muscle, tendon, ligament, and fascia-related complaints.

Recommendations are based on your health history, examination findings, symptoms, comfort level, and goals. MyACT is not a one-size-fits-all treatment and does not replace needed medical care, physical rehabilitation, or surgical follow-up.

Issues commonly evaluated

  • Chronic muscle tightness or localized soft-tissue irritation
  • Tendon-related overuse complaints
  • Sports and activity-related soreness
  • Plantar fascia-related heel or arch pain
  • Shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, or back soft-tissue concerns
  • Mobility limits related to muscle or connective-tissue tension

How MyACT may support soft-tissue care

MyACT applies focused acoustic waves to a targeted area. Depending on the condition, it may be used alongside soft-tissue care, chiropractic care, massage therapy, mobility work, or individualized home recommendations.

Realistic goals may include improving mobility, reducing localized discomfort, supporting soft-tissue recovery, and helping a patient return gradually to normal activity. Results vary, and no specific outcome or number of visits is guaranteed.

Tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis)

Tennis elbow commonly involves irritation or overload of the tendons that attach to the outside of the elbow. It can develop from racquet sports, lifting, gripping, repetitive tools, computer work, or other repeated wrist and forearm activity.

When appropriate, MyACT may be applied to involved forearm and elbow soft tissues as one part of conservative care. It may be combined with activity modification, mobility work, progressive strengthening, and soft-tissue care. Learn more on our tennis elbow and golfer’s elbow page.

Golfer’s elbow (medial epicondylitis)

Golfer’s elbow affects the tendon area on the inside of the elbow and is often associated with repetitive gripping, wrist flexion, throwing, weight training, or work-related overuse. A person does not need to play golf to develop it.

MyACT may be considered when the examination supports a tendon-related soft-tissue problem and there are no contraindications. The goal is to support local comfort and function while the broader plan addresses load management, strength, mobility, and technique.

Plantar fasciitis

Plantar fasciitis typically causes heel or arch pain that is worse with the first steps after rest or after prolonged standing and activity. Footwear, activity changes, calf tightness, ankle mobility, and repeated loading may contribute.

MyACT may be used for persistent plantar fascia-related discomfort after an examination has helped rule out problems that require another approach. It is usually paired with stretching or mobility guidance, activity modification, gradual strengthening, and footwear considerations. Read more about plantar fasciitis care.

Post-surgical soft-tissue rehabilitation and support

At an appropriate stage of healing, some patients ask whether MyACT can be used to support mobility and soft-tissue recovery around an area affected by surgery. It is not used over a recent surgical site unless the patient has reached an appropriate stage of healing and treatment is consistent with the surgeon’s restrictions or clearance and the individual examination.

MyACT does not replace post-operative medical care, prescribed physical therapy, or the surgeon’s rehabilitation plan. When it is considered, we review the type and date of surgery, current precautions, wound healing, medications, symptoms, and rehabilitation goals. We coordinate or refer when proposed care falls outside those limits.

What to expect

Treatment is targeted to the involved area and adjusted to patient tolerance. Some patients describe pressure, tapping, or temporary tenderness. We communicate throughout the session and adjust the approach as needed.
