Pregnancy and Pediatric Care:

Many people use chiropractic care from pre-conception throughout the entire pregnancy and continue after the birth. When the nervous system is not properly communicating at any level along the spine, this is called a pinched nerve (subluxation). If the nerve is not communicating to an organ or gland that organ or gland will not work properly. The nervous system allows the body to adapt and change to its environment. The lack of communication interferes with the body’s ability to adapt and be healthy. Chiropractors find and correct these pinched nerves with safe thermal technology, gentle techniques and comfortable equipment. Crossroads Chiropractic specializes in pregnancy and pediatric care. We love families!

Pre-conception:

Chiropractic care allows the body to be balanced to adapt to the physical, chemical, and emotional stresses of life.. Chiropractic combined with, exercise, nutrition, and emotional health help to create the best chances of the healthiest life possible for a mother and her growing child.

Pregnancy:

During pregnancy, regular chiropractic checkups and adjustments help to insure proper function to the organs and glands that help with development and function to the growing baby. It is crucial to maintain a healthy functioning and communicating nervous system for mom as she is creating the other nervous system of the developing baby.

Labor and Birth:

Most mothers use chiropractic care for proper biomechanics of the hips and spine in order to achieve optimal comfort and to reduce chances of interventions during the birth process. Pinched nerves can block communication from the brain to the spinal cord and from the spinal cord to the organs. This interferes with the body’s ability to adapt, heal and reduces the chances of a healthy, safe and quick delivery. Many mothers get checkups as often as every other day building up to delivery to insure the best!

After Birth:

The baby’s spine can be stressed even during natural birth. If a pinched nerve (subluxation) is present it can show up as many different challenges including problems breastfeeding, colic, insomnia, excessive crying, constipation and the baby’s inability to turn its head to one side.

Common Questions:

Is it safe for mom to get adjusted while she is pregnant?

Yes! This is the most important time during the baby’s development to keep the nerves communicating in the best way possible. We have special tables to conform to mom’s belly so she can comfortably and safely lie on her stomach. We can also adjust while she is sitting up.

Is it safe for my baby to get adjusted?
Yes! Another very important time to check and correct pinched nerves caused by the birthing process is when the child is an infant. A correction or adjustment can be made with the pressure equivalent to checking a tomato for ripeness. Very little pressure is used to adjust a baby or child and results are often noticed after a few visits. We use different techniques for them than we do for adults.

When should a baby be checked?
As soon as you can bring the baby in the office! We can check for signs of pinched nerves such as their head shifting, having a short leg, and/or body twisting.

When my granddaughter, Aubrey was born, I noticed at 2 weeks she would not turn her head at all to the right. The pediatrician said she had a tied up neck muscle and to lay her in the floor on her back and force her head to the left while holding her right shoulder down several times a day.  At 2 months, she would not hold her head up at all.  Dr. Matt scanned her and explained to my daughter and I the results. Aubrey had Acute Congenital Muscular Torticollis. The strength in her right arm was much weaker than the left and one leg was longer than the other. The scan showed that her C-1 nerve was not working correctly. Dr. Matt adjusted Aubrey which she slept through while laying face down atop her mother. He said we should start seeing a little improvement in 2 weeks. After her third visit I could not believe the improvement. She was holding her head up, very unsteady but it was off her chest finally. When we laid her on her stomach she raised her head up to her breast when before she would only rest her chin on the floor. Aubrey even turned her head more to the left as well.  She rolled over from her stomach to her back after the fifth visit.  Click Here To Read Aubrey’s Story…
