Chiropractor Sharpsburg GA - 4 Shifts to Cope with Stress

In this weeks video health tip, Dr. Matthew Davis & Dr. Samir Hajariwala, directors of Crossroads Chiropractic, take a look at 4 lifestyle shifts to help you better cope with stress.

How often do you feel stressed?

According to American Psychological Association’s  2017 Stress in America survey:
3 out of 4 Americans experience at least one stress symptom monthly
45% lay awake at night
36% feel nervous or anxious
35% are irritable or angry
34% report fatigue due to stress.

Stress is a normal part of life; designed to help you take action, perform better and get results.   However, if you are regularly feeling overwhelmed by stress, it can impact both your emotional and physical health.

Here are 4 lifestyle shifts to help you better manage your stress:
1. Create a positive stress self-talk. A positive stress self-talk is when you turn something stressful into  an opportunity which may provide learning and achievement.
2. Practice deep breathing. Deep, rhythmic breathing is one of the simplest and quickest ways to lower stress in the body.
3. Exercise daily. Exercise is key for mental fitness in many ways.  It reduces stress hormones and stimulates the release of endorphins, the  brain chemicals that act as natural painkillers, boost your mood and improve your ability to sleep.
4. Eat a health diet. A healthy diet can help counter the impact of stress by shoring up the immune system and lowering blood pressure.

Eliminating stress from your life is nearly impossible; however, a healthy lifestyle can help negate some of the harmful effects of stress physically and emotionally.
