Chiropractor Sharpsburg GA - Chronic Inflammation The Silent Killer

Chronic InflammationIn this video, Dr. Matthew Davis, director of Crossroads Chiropractic, shares important information looking at chronic inflammation. Chronic inflammation is a serious health risk and appears to even be a silent killer. It has been linked to nearly every chronic disease, including cancer, heart disease, diabetes and Alzheimer’s.

Many health experts consider inflammation to be a better predictor of heart disease than cholesterol levels.

A blood test called C-reactive protein can assess if you have dangerous levels of inflammation.

Here are six healthy steps, you can use to fight inflammation and decrease your risk of many serious health conditions:

  1. Avoid refined carbs. Cut out sugar and processed carbohydrates, especially wheat products and other refined flours.
  2. Eliminate vegetable oils. Avoid polyunsaturated omega-6 vegetable oils like peanut, safflower, soy, corn, and canola which promote inflammation.
  3. Assess your workouts. Don’t overdo exercise intensity or duration, which can encourage inflammation.
  4. Add Quality Fish oil. Add EPA fish oil and wild-caught cold water fish to your diet. Atlantic mackerel, cod, haddock, herring, mahi mahi, salmon, anchovies, pollock, trout, whitefish, canned light tuna and sardines. These cold water varieties are rich in omega-3s and lowest in mercury.
  5. Add some spice to your life. Ginger, turmeric and red chili peppers have powerful anti-inflammatory effects.
  6. Eat your vegetables. Vegetables like garlic, onion, and shallots help fight inflammation, but also most greens, vegetables and some fruits like blueberries can help too.

A healthy lifestyle which includes eating the right foods and daily exercise will keep you healthy and inflammation free.

Chronic inflammation is a dangerous and often undetected condition. These steps can help you keep it in check, and are great general guidelines for good health as well.
