Do you know what it is???????  It’s Exercise!

Eighty percent of people do not get the recommended amount of aerobic and muscle-strengthening activity recommended to maintain optimal health.

Harvard Medical School has stated that there are decades of research proving that regular exercise is one of the most important factors in preventing cardiovascular disease, many types of cancer, diabetes and obesity.”

According to research published in the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology, being physically active helps to reduce heart disease risk.

The Mayo clinic recommends exercise for their heart patients.  Specifically High-intensity interval training (HIIT), which involves short periods of intense exercise broken up by periods of lower-intensity rest.

It has also been shown, that physical activity can slow memory loss in early Alzheimer  patients.  In one study, mild to moderate Alzheimer’s patients participating in a supervised exercise program showed significantly fewer neuropsychiatric symptoms associated with the disease than the control group that did not exercise. In seniors who are at high risk of dementia, cognitive decline can be reduced with a comprehensive program addressing diet, exercise, and brain training.

Exercise is also crucial for both prevention and treatment of cancer.  Twelve studies that included data from 1.4 million people found that those who exercised had a 7 percent lower risk of developing cancer and a 20 percent lower risk of cancers of the esophagus, lung, kidney, stomach, and endometrium. Previous research has also shown that breast and colon cancer patients who exercise regularly have half the recurrence rate than non-exercisers
