Chiropractor Sharpsburg GA - Women Still Outliving Men

Women Still Outliving MenIn this video, Dr. Matthew Davis, director of Crossroads Chiropractic, shares important information looking at the possible reasons why women live longer than men.

Research shows that even though we have significantly increased our longevity the past two hundred years, women are still outliving men by about five years, that’s the same gap that was existed over two hundred years ago.

Worldwide, the average lifespan is about 71 years. Men live an average of 68 years while women live an average of 73 years.  Some countries have higher lifespans and some lower.  Japan can have an average lifespan of about 83 years, in the United States, the average lifespan is almost 79 years, Canada about three years greater than that, and Italy typically exceeds the average lifespan.

Some researchers believe the gap in male and female longevity might be genetic, particularly related to the X chromosome. Women have two while men only have one.

Others feel wars and other aggressive behavior by men may also be a factor.  However, one of the biggest factors may be lifestyle related.   Studies support that men don’t eat as well nor go to the doctor as often as women do.

By making positive lifestyle choices we can close the lifespan gap between women and men.
